Zodiac Raft Whale Watching Adventure

The experience of watching 40 foot (12 meter) whales from a 24 foot (7 meter) Zodiac raft is something you'll never forget! Following Hawaiian Marine Park laws of stopping at least 100 yards (90 meters) away from these magnificent animals, you get a close up look at the migrating humpback whales. It is not uncommon for them to be curious about the raft and come right under the boat!

Amazing experience!

Oh. My. Gosh!!! This was an unforgettable experience. The boat is super fast and fun. The captain and "first mate" Davonte were both freaking awesome.... funny, knowledgeable, kept us all safe. And the whales! We saw whales galore! We lost count of how many we saw breach on our tour. We also saw dolphins and beautiful scenery. It was really a phenomenal experience. Best way to see the whales in my opinion!
Saw Lots of Whales

This was a wonderful experience and we got to see many whales! I could have been better prepared by wearing closed water shoes to protect my feet from rope burn (you put your feet under a tight rope to keep yourself in the boat.) We also should have brought water safe bags as our bags got soaked. Maybe these things were written somewhere. I just could have been better prepared. The captain and experience really were wonderful though!
Breaching whales, mother and calf, and a couple of close encounters

We started out my husband’s birthday by going whale watching with Captain Rick and First Mate Will. We traveled from Honokohau Marina to Kiholo Bay where the humpbacks give birth.
What an amazing morning! Saw a whale surface first thing as we left the harbor and then spotted five in a group as we went further out.
But it got even better. We witnessed one breaching, followed by several pectoral fin slaps. Then one whale surfaced nearby and swam under the boat. It then surfaced right BESIDE the boat! I wasn’t quick enough to take video or photo. We then got close up to a whale calf and its mom. So many whales everywhere. We could see others surfacing, tail slapping, and breaching in the distance.
These are RARE encounters, so we were so grateful to be among the 1% who got up close and personal.
On our way back we encountered bottlenose and spotted dolphins as well as other humpbacks.
This was definitely a trip to remember. An extraordinary birthday that my husband and I will never forget.

Outstanding experience with Captain zodiac whale watching

Outstanding whale watching trip. Captain Rick was really knowledgeable about whales. Both he and crew Will took good care to make sure all passengers were comfortable as the boat went through waves. We were lucky saw an amazing number of whales, with a full breach and a group of whales fighting. They also had a microphone so we could hear the whales vocalizing. They were careful to not get too close or head us in directions that would be harmful to the whales Definitely recommend going with Captain zodiac

This was one of favorite excursions while visiting Kona. We saw whales 10 minutes out of the harbor a mother and calf being escorted by a huge male, moving towards the north side of the island seen several breaches even a calf breached several times. We absolutely love the crew Captain Chuck is da’man and little B is just awesome providing information about the whales. We didn’t want it to end . Highly recommend Captain Zodiac.
