Small-Group Surf Lesson on the Big Island

You never forget your first wave, as surfing enthusiasts in Hawaii are prone to say, so make sure your first wave is a good one with a small-group surf lesson on the Big Island. This 2-hour Kona surf lesson starts with the basics, like surfing safety, etiquette and how to paddle and pop up on the board. Then take to the water to practice your newfound skills on the waves of Kahalu'u Bay! A knowledgeable surfing instructor will be in the water with you, telling you when to paddle and when to pop up. It’s a Hawaiian experience everyone should try at least once!

- Face masks required for travellers in public areas
- Guides required to regularly wash hands
- Infants and small children can ride in a pram or stroller
- Participant MUST know how to swim without the aid of a lifejacket
- Regularly sanitised high-traffic areas
- Social distancing enforced throughout experience
- Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
- Available for ages 11 and up

- This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.

Ben the instructor was fun and friendly! He gave us a quick and clear run down of how to surf and stay safe.
Once out in the water, Max and Julian were attentive and helpful. They made sure everyone in the group got a chance to stand up on our boards at least once. Max was constantly sharing feedback on what I could do better. With his help I did it! For someone looking to surf for the first time, or returning, I recommend these guys. They were great!

The instructors were very attentive, helpful, and safety-focused. My daughter learned quickly and enjoyed the experience. Santi, her instructor was helpful, patient, and friendly.

Very good staff. Dry land and in-water lessons were well done. Our 14 year-old grandsons thoroughly enjoyed the lessons.

This was probably the best experience I had on my trip. The instructors were great and they helped a group of newbies get up on our boards relatively quickly. I highly recommend.

I had never surfed before, but my instructor Steve taught me everything I needed to know to get started. He was extremely patient and helpful and also ensured that the three of us stayed safe. 10/10 recommend doing this!

We took a surf lesson with Coke. He was very informative and helpful! There was a high surf warning that day and the current was very strong and hard to paddle against. He kept us safe and made sure we enjoyed our experience! Would definitely do this again!
